Literary Illustration
This is a 'Literary Illustration' project where we had to create an original illustration for a passage from our favorite book or poem. Having said that, our illustration must demonstrate the passage without using words.
I am one of the many 'Twilight Series' fans so I decided to illustrate the famous lines of the first book Twilight that I first fall in love with. The passage goes,
"And so the Lion falls in love with the Lamb..What a stupid lamb..What a sick masochistic lion."
This is one of the crucial part of the story line that tells the audience in words of how Bella, the human girl, and Edward the vampire were in love despite their differences. The reason I chose to do this line is because it is a powerful storyline that portrays the passionate love between two most unlikely lovers.
As for my illustration, I did not want to focus much on the characters' faces ( as in how Edward or Bella would look like) but instead my main focus was on the contrast of the Lion and Lamb love. I wanted to focus on the intensity and deathly love between the monster and the prey. I wanted the emotion of the illustration to be passionate and the mood to be about a forbidden love. The illustration mainly consist of nude and passion color with both characters with their symbolic animals. I had the roses and thorns to show the contrasts of the painful but beautiful love the characters had. I wanted the whole illustration to have this faded grudging effect so the viewers can identify themselves in the forbidden love themselves.
